Permanent Fat Cell Removal with Liposuction in New Jersey
There are many different techniques of liposuction in New Jersey and other areas of the country. There are some that are more dangerous than others to the patient, normally because there are some versions that require more anesthesia or sedation than other methods where local anesthesia suffices. There are two main ways that liposuction is done in New Jersey: the tumescent method and the ultrasonic method. There really is not a consensus within the plastic surgery field as to which method is the best method of liposuction. Part of the reason for this is that the two methods use the same techniques during the first and last part of the procedure with one different in the middle.
The Two Methods
Tumescent liposuction in New Jersey is done through the use of a saline and local anesthetic solution which is injected into the fat cells. This helps to numb the area but it also causes the fat cells to gain a firmer consistency before removal. During the removal process there are different methods that can be used, which individuals should discuss with their doctors before the liposuction procedure in New Jersey. One of these methods is suction-assisted liposuction which is the traditional method of liposuction and is what is purely used with tumescent liposuction. There is also an ultrasound assisted liposuction where the tube emits sound waves to help dissolve the fat while suctioning it up. A power assisted liposuction method has a cannula, or tube, that moves in a back and forth pattern so that it suctions the fat cells more efficiently.
Ultrasonic liposuction in New Jersey starts the same way as the tumescent version does, with the flooding of the fat cells with the saline and local anesthetic to make them firmer. With this method, however, there is a rod that emits ultrasound waves that break up the fat cells into a liquid before suctioning. Some doctors find that this method is more efficient because a smaller tube can be used to suction the material out of the body. This type of liposuction can be used with the suctioning methods described above as well.
It has been said by physicians that there is less blood loss with the ultrasonic liposuction; however there are also more complications that have been found with it as well. Some patients get skin burns from the ultrasound waves as well as having a burning or tingling sensation in the area.
